Every year interior decorators speculate on décor trends and what will be popular in the coming year, and how to keep your space relevant. You will come across a lot of advice on décor trends every season, but we believe that you should only incorporate ideas that resonate with your style and branding. Your budget may also create limitations within your design trend selection, so you should also consider the longevity of a trend before diving in. You shouldn’t spend thousands on something that won’t appeal to the masses several years down the line.
We asked our team of interior designers to share their best décor trends for 2022 that are not only easy to incorporate, but will maintain their appeal for years to come. Here’s what they shared.
Bright Colors and Bold Patterns
COVID-19 set a bleak tone across just about everything. As we’re entering the post-pandemic era, the major gesture will be bright colors and bold patterns. Gray, brown, black and subtle tones are on their way out as we celebrate vibrant colors and embrace optimism after a few horrible years. Bright blues, yellows, reds and greens will be everywhere along with stripes, plaids and checks. Floral prints, dots, and other patterns have always worked and will continue to do so in 2022 and beyond.
Nature-inspired Interior Design
Biophilic design has been growing in popularity and will continue to do so, according to our interior designers. Plants, flowers, green walls, bonsai, succulents and others will make your space more soothing and will complement natural wood and warm-toned surroundings. And if you’re not exactly a green thumb, then you can always opt for artificial plants. Modern faux plants are incredibly realistic and make a great impression in your interior design season after season. The best part? Real and artificial plants are timeless and trend-proof. They will always be relevant.
Restorative Work from Home Spaces
The COVID-19 pandemic has changed workspaces forever. While many are returning to offices, the new age of workspaces is certainly a hybrid model. In some cases, we are seeing permanent remote working. In such a case, the makeshift ‘office’ we created in the corner of the bedroom or where we get the best Wi-Fi won’t cut it anymore. A dedicated room with a nice background for zoom calls, a sturdy table with flower centerpiece and an abundance of cabinets, lighting and silence is what you will need in 2022.
Minimalism
Our interior decorators say that this trend will rule the interior design world now and for decades to come. Our houses are getting smaller and we’re purchasing more than ever. Decluttering and having limited options will not just make your life stress-free, but will make your space more beautiful and livable. Stick to a few pieces of furniture and limit décor items. You can always add textures, paint, contrasting surfaces and more for added visual appeal.
